HORROR WITHIN ‎– Awaiting Extinction / CD JEWELCASE

Behind the scenes here at Teeth of the Divine, we’ve often discussed what the next chapter of Deathcore will look like. Thanks to the incredible (and well-deserved) popularity of Lorna Shore, we all know that the whole Blackened/Symphonic Deathcore thing is the latest style du jour that everyone and their siblings, parents, cousins, and dogs seem to be partaking in these days.
And that’s okay! It’s a subgenre that continues to push the levels of technicality, heaviness, and just general possibilities of epicness that continue to completely boggle and often overwhelm my silly little mind. But like all good things, there always seems to be a limit to how far you can go before it all inevitably becomes almost a caricature of itself. There comes a time when the pendulum has to swing back in the other direction.
To that end, I think there’s a chance that France’s Horror Within could provide a path into Deathcore’s newest mutation, and damned if I’m not here for it.
