Anyone who has ever delved into the world of extreme metal is well aware of the influence Mr. Schuldiner had on death, thrash and progressive metal. Before Florida and New York became the scenes of this bloodbath, it all had to start somewhere, and many have pointed to this as the fulcrum from which thrash would evolve into something much more macabre. I’m not going to affirm this or deny it, but if many think this is the first death metal album, think again.
