Although the death metal is often the heavy genre that the most associated with Sweden, the contribution of the nation to Grindcore should never be underestimated. Since the early 90s onwards, Grindcore’s Swedish bands formed a unique sound by combining the pioneer punk pink of bands such as Anti Cimex and Mob 47, with Entombed and At the Gates’s Death metal tones. Led by Nasum, there was also the brutal medical obsession of General Surgery, the unbridled humor of Birdflesh, Gadget’s wild dishes and the pioneer goregrind of Regurgitate. This new wave of bands, along with many others throughout Europe, were fundamental for Grindcore to be seen as a serious form with longevity instead of only a strange branch that would soon be discarded. We advance until 2024 and we arrived in Malmö, the third city of Sweden, but not one of those that is often associated with the country’s heavy music production. Järnbörd formed in 2015 from members of several other local bands and have not only been producing an excellent Grindcore with modern Crust infusion in numerous releases and splits, but also proudly raised the flag of the Underground Heavy Music Scene of their city.
