Flamethrower Ecdysis feels like your pretty standard slam death metal album and with that comes all the things that make the genre interesting but also make it hard to get into. There are tons of really heavy, really groovy riffs and it has the magical quality where it feels like the riffs are floating about a foot above the ground in a stream of consciousness.
