If you imagine Display of Decay as a big road machine that rockets along with a roaring jet engine instead of the usual pumping cylinders (and that’s not hard at all to imagine), the brakes obviously failed a few hundred miles ago, much to the cruel glee of the bloodthirsty demons at the controls. When you listen to their new album, Art In Mutilation, it’s apparent that they’re having a hell of a time, and their full-throttle, take-no-prisoners enthusiasm is highly contagious.
Five years later, Display of Decay finally follows up Art In Mutilation with a new album (their fourth full-length) called Vitriol, which will be released by Gore House Productions on October 20. The album title alone suggests that the band’s music is no less bloodthirsty than before. If anything, they’ve doubled down on the carnage, but not at the expense of what makes their music simultaneously so damn contagious.
