With ‘Songs For a Tarnished World’, Choir already crushed us with what’s possibly the heaviest and grittiest album in Violence In The Veins history. So where did they go from there?
The answer is simple: Choir intensified every last element of their already disgusting to the max-formula. Just this time, instead of a hammer, they’re wielding an axe.
The songs on ‘Smithe Thee Smoldering Providence’ are somehow simultaneously faster, slower, more brutal, and more melancholic than those of its predecessor.
It’s the musical equivalent of a two part movie. «Side A symbolically cleanses our post-industrial sins in ocean water, while side B rips at the seams of the ongoing starvation many still endure», says the mastermind behind the project.
We’re feeling every ounce of that in every second of ‘STSP’. Choir have outdone themselves and created yet another oppressive masterpiece that will absolutely destroy everything in its path.
